The National
'A surveillance soliloquy...'
An Interloper breaks into the National Gallery and encounters John Constable's iconic 1821 painting 'The Hay Wain'.
A de-construction of the political and social problems in Britain and the hypocrisies of both the political left and right. The film examines the iconic painting as both representative of a quintessential Englishness and the complexities of nationhood, identity and socio- economic history.
CCTV is re-cast as an observing audience and the stereotyped 'yob' is re-cast as spokesperson as a absurd and darkly comic duel commences between History, representation, State and the Individual.
